Sales
What the Sales Module Does
The Sales module is for shops that also sell vehicles. It covers three connected areas: Lot Inventory (vehicles you own and are selling), Leads (potential buyers), and Deals (completed or in-progress sales). If your shop does not sell vehicles, this module can be ignored — it has no effect on Repair Order functionality.
Lot Inventory
Lot Inventory is where you manage vehicles you own. Each lot vehicle has a VIN, title status, purchase price, asking price, and current condition. You can also flag a vehicle as available or hold.
Adding a Lot Vehicle
Go to Sales → Lot Inventory → Add Vehicle. Enter the VIN — CSM will decode the year, make, model, trim, and engine automatically. Fill in purchase price, asking price, and title information. The vehicle is added to your central vehicle records and linked to the lot.
Reconditioning
You can create a Repair Order linked directly to a lot vehicle for reconditioning work. The RO is flagged as a reconditioning job and its labor and parts costs can feed into the vehicle’s cost basis. Shop your own inventory through the same workflow as any other customer vehicle.
Leads
A Lead represents a potential buyer who has expressed interest but has not yet bought a vehicle. Leads are linked to a customer record and can be connected to a specific lot vehicle they are interested in.
Lead Pipeline
Leads move through pipeline stages: New → Contacted → Appointment Set → Negotiating → Won / Lost. The leads list shows all active leads and which stage each is in, so your sales team can see what needs follow-up at a glance.
Deals
A Deal is a completed or in-progress vehicle sale. It links a buyer, a vehicle, a sale price, financing terms (if applicable), and any trade-in. Converting a Won lead to a Deal is one click from the lead record.
House Account
For internal or wholesale deals where the buyer is the shop itself (for reconditioning or fleet use), deals can be assigned to the house account instead of an external customer.
Sales Dashboard
The Sales module has its own dashboard showing deals closed this month, leads by stage, lot inventory value, and gross profit summary from deals. Access it from Sales → Dashboard.
